Glinsk’s community groups unite for ambitious fundraiser

Several developments planned for North Galway village

THE community of Glinsk will come together this Saturday night when it launches a novel – and ambitious – fundraiser in the Glencastle Lounge Glinsk to raise finances for several developments within the area.

These includes a 160-space car park at the local childcare facility, a playground, lighting for a walking track, Astro turf all-sports arena, a two-storey building consisting of changing facilities, a gym, meeting rooms, yoga room and coffee dock, and a full-size GAA training pitch.

Already in December, they opened a state-of-the-art, fully floodlit tarmacadam walking track complete with security fencing and external gym equipment, which is now linked to a locally funded footpath.

This has created a safe route to link the local national school to the community hub, where the childcare facility, community centre and GAA club are located.

In 2022 the community group, which consists of Glinsk GAA Club, Glinsk Ladies GAA Club, Northern Gaels GAA Club, Glinsk NS, Glinsk Community Council and An Caisleán Óir, also completed the purchase of adjoining land consisting of eight acres…
