Pushing for positive action on Tuam’s derelict sites

Hopes discussions might lead to short-term uses for vacant buildings

TAKE a walkabout Tuam this weekend but with perhaps fresh eyes and a different purpose.

On Saturday and Sunday a walk and a follow-up discussion will be led by architects and artists in a bid to spark debate on how empty and derelict buildings around Tuam are impacting the town and those who use it and live in it.

The events are part of the Architecture at the Edge Festival in Galway and designer Niall O’Cleirigh, who has a passion for community architecture, told The Tuam Herald they hope it will lead to positive outcomes in allowing people to share their views and to come up with tangible ways to bring about change…
