Doing it the Write Way

Author Eoghan releases second crime novel

It’s an old, well-worn adage, but in Ballydangan author Eoghan Egan’s case, it best describes his literary journey. If you don’t succeed, then try and try again.

Last month, Eoghan launched his second crime novel, The Other Side of Fear, at Bistro 18 on Dunlo Street in Ballinasloe. His new book, the second in a trilogy, is a continuation of his debut novel, Hiding In Plain Sight, which was released in early 2020.

While his first novel was almost a decade in the writing, the run of Government lockdowns throughout the Covid-19 pandemic afforded him the time to pen The Other Side of Fear. “So, I was quite lucky to have the time to write the second book,” says Eoghan, sitting in his personal library in Ballydangan.

“I knew when I was writing the first book – and I knew the story I wanted – that it wasn’t going to fit into the one book, so I had to write a trilogy.”
