Claregalway Castle set for two days of musical adventure

TOLU Makay, the singer who teamed up with the RTÉ concert orchestra for a spell-binding cover of The Saw Doctors’ classic N17 earlier this year, will be performing in Claregalway this weekend as part of a special musical event.

Tolu will be singing on one side of what was once the N17 (now the N83) across the grounds of the beautiful Claregalway Castle and will be joined by a great musical mix for the Meet Me At the Castle event this Saturday and Sunday, September 25 and 26.

And The Saw Doctors link continues as one of the event’s main organisers is former Saw Doctor bass player Pearse O’Doherty.

All artists will be playing both the Saturday and the Sunday; the audience changes each day, but the line-up stays the same. Attendees can look forward to performances from Lisa Hannigan, Tolu Makay, Saint Sister, Wallis Bird, Andy Irvine, Nealo, Daithí, Jape and DJ Sally Cinnamon.

Ticket holders will be able to explore the grounds of Claregalway Castle from 2pm until 10.30 pm where they will get to watch their favourite artists perform in new, unexpected ways and witness some magical collaborations. There will also be food and drink from local suppliers to enjoy as well as collaborative workshops with performing artists sharing songs and stories.

Meet Me At The Castle is the latest in a series of events by Hibernacle, the brainchild of three experienced event organisers: Úna Molloy, Pearse Doherty and Peter Kelly.

Pearse is delighted to be working on another event in Co Galway and has recently been involved with this year’s Galway Arts Festival and a successful outdoor concert in Campbell’s Tavern in Cloughanover.

The Claregalway event is centred on audience experience and engagement and is a new way of approaching music festivals.

“Meet Me at The Castle will be a whole new experience. We will keep up our collaborative thread and the festival day will be filled with unique experiences throughout each part of the day,” commented Una Molloy.

Tickets priced at €55 for either Saturday, September 25 or Sunday 26 can be purchased through hibernacle.ie. This is an over 18s event. All patrons will be required to show their Digital Covid Certificate in order to attend.
