Looking ahead

THERE’S a bit more buzz about towns in the area this week as salons and barbers reopened, parishioners returned to Masses and people can browse the shelves in public libraries. After more than five months of lockdown, the first steps in reopening businesses began on Monday and the sigh of relief could be heard even above the incessant whir of blow-dryers.

Covid numbers have remained relatively low in the city and county over the past two weeks with just over 200 positive cases reported. This and the increasing number of people being vaccinated has given a lift to communities who are still approaching the gentle easing of restrictions with caution.
