‘Stars align’ for Quiet Man Greenway as feasibility study tender issued

CONSULTANTS for a long-awaited study into the feasibility of a Greenway linking Athenry and Milltown along the Western Rail Corridor will be appointed in the coming weeks following the launch of the tender process.
Galway County Council received €75,000 for the project last July through an allocation of funding from the Government’s Greenway Strategy.
The tender for consultants was published last Thursday, with a deadline for responses of Thursday, February 25.
The Quiet Man Greenway has been the subject of much controversy and debate in recent years with several members who favour the reintroduction of rail services along the WRC attempting to block funding.
