Ten patients with Covid-19 in critical care in Galway

NEW data released by the HSE shows the estimated locations of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Galway city and county.

The information indicates that the latest cases confirmed are mostly located in or close to the city.

As of 8pm last night (Wednesday) the number of confirmed cases in University Hospital Galway was 16 and there were five confirmed cases being treated in Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

There were a further 19 suspected cases in the Galway hospital and seven suspected cases in Portiuncula.

The newly released information from the HSE also gives details regarding bed availability at the hospitals.

In Portiuncula, one confirmed case is being treated in the critical care unit and there are ten patients confirmed with Covid-19 in the critical care unit in UHG.

The number of vacant general hospital beds in UHG is 148 and there are nine vacant critical care beds on site. In Portiuncula there are three vacant general beds and four vacant critical care beds.

There are now 237 confirmed cases of patients with Covid-19 in Galway city and county. Nationally there are 12,547 cases and there have been 444 deaths.
