Scoreless first half leaves Tuam with mountain to climb

IT was a proper game of two halves in Castlebar on Sunday, but Tuam’s second half dominance wasn’t enough to see them progress to the Connacht Junior Cup quarter-finals.
A scoreless opening half performance ultimately let them down. Head coach Barry Ruane said afterwards: “In the first half we didn’t defend as well as we had all year. Probably our execution and our penalty count gave them a lot of foothold in the game. In the second half we put a lot of pressure on but probably left it a little too late.”
