Be the child to light up Tuam!

IT’S back! The Tuam Herald in conjunction with Tuam Lights Up is again giving the opportunity for one child to have the prestigious job of switching on Tuam’s colourful Christmas lighting display this year.
The lights will be officially turned on this year on Saturday, November 30 at 5pm during a festive-filled event with singing and music in The Square.
The Light Up Tuam Christmas Colouring Competition was launched this week and the entry form appears on Page 51 in this week’s edition. It will also appear in next week’s Tuam Herald and all entries must be received by Monday, November 25. The lucky winner will be announced in The Tuam Herald on Wednesday, November 27. Last year’s competition proved to be a great success with wonderful colourful and creative entries being submitted and the standard gave the judges a tough challenge.
This year the winner will turn on the lights and will also receive a bumper art pack courtesy of The Tuam Herald.
Ensuring the streets are beautifully lit up in time for the busy festive shopping season is down to the hard work and fundraising efforts of the voluntary Tuam Lights Up committee.
Treasurer Shaun Cunniffe said they received a very positive response from people during their church gate collection at the weekend and they are hoping businesses and the general public will continue to generously support the initiative.
There is also an online donation page where people at home and abroad can show their support www.ifundraise.ie/tuamchristmaslights19.
