Dig at Mother and Baby Home later this year

EXCAVATION works at The Tuam Mother and Baby Home site are likely to commence in the second half of 2019, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has revealed.
Speaking outside the Dáil late last week, the Taoiseach said the Government is currently planning to introduce the legislation and hire the experts needed for it to undertake the works, which will happen on a phased basis.
The news comes four and a half years since local researcher Catherine Corless made the world aware that the remains of young children were buried on the grounds of the former Mother and Baby Home on the Dublin Road.
