Barriers and CCTV cameras to combat bog dumping

A COMMUNITY campaign to tackle illegal dumping in Abbeyknockmoy has made a breakthrough with confirmation that barriers surrounding a local bog will be installed over the coming weeks.

CCTV cameras will also be erected in the area that has become an illegal dumping blackspot in recent years.
The campaign, which was started earlier this year by local people in response to ongoing dumping on roads through the bog, has enlisted the support of Galway County Council who have secured funding to install the cameras and barriers.
