Monivea-Abbey negotiate first hurdle in Connacht

MONIVEA-ABBEY’S first appearance in a Connacht Club Championship match since 1992 proved to be well worth waiting for as they cruised past Roscommon Intermediate champions Kilmore in Tuam Stadium on Sunday.
As a contest, the outcome was just in the balance for the opening quarter as the sides traded points at both ends, but once the home side found their shooting boots it was pretty much one-way traffic, as the Galway side were in command for the duration.
Of course, there was somewhat of a mystery about this game, as Monivea-Abbey only found out their opponents on Saturday, as the Roscommon final replay had to be settled that afternoon, as Kilmore and Oran met for the second weekend in succession, following their initial draw game.
