Ahascragh-Fohenagh 'more ready' for senior - Mannion

By Darren Kelly

“IT’S GREAT for the club after so many years of trying and trying and getting bet and getting bet,” said Ahascragh-Fohenagh captain Padraic Mannion after the final whistle, as he became the first player from the club to receive the Mick Sylver Cup.
“I think it was our fifth semi-final in a row and our third final in five years. So, to finally get over the line is just such a relief. It was hard take it the last couple of years but maybe we weren’t ready to go up yet. But hopefully this year we’ll be ready and we can drive it on and really compete up there.”
Ahascragh-Fohenagh have been one of the most consistent teams in Galway’s second tier this decade, suffering two final losses including a replay against Cappataggle two years ago. But the county star acknowledged that this breakthrough came at the right time.
