Kilkenny despatch Galway camogie women

Kilkenny 3-15, Galway 1-19.

ONE body blow too many ultimately downed Galway on Saturday as their All-Ireland senior camogie dreams ended after a pulsating battle with Kilkenny.
This game was a classic with many twists but it meant nothing to the Tribeswomen at the final whistle as three Kilkenny goals sent the Noresiders into a decider with Cork.
The first from Shelly Farrell inside two minutes had Galway on the back foot; Michelle Quilty’s brilliantly taken strike had them on the ropes but when Ann Dalton’s speculative sideline cut blindsided the defence and got past Susan Earner in extra-time, the Tribeswomen’s hopes of a favourable scorecard looked remote.
Ollie Bergin’s charges must be credited for going the distance though. Despite struggling, they pursued it with their work rate and showed immense character, and when Ailish O’Reilly’s goal ensured the sanctioned 60 minutes finished all square, Galway’s chances looked good.
