Quarry is the only way through to flood stricken homes

RESIDENTS in Williamstown are being forced to make their way through a quarry to access their homes after floodwater has rendered the roads to the Brierfort area impassable.
One of two roads, which had been used as a diversion route when the nearby Killnalack crossroads was closed early last week, is now under several feet of water as floodwaters from a turlough have spilled out on to the road.
Nine homes are marooned as the second route into the village is also underwater, with only tractors able to safely make their way through.
