Flood dig-out

LAST month’s massive rainfall, over three times the normal for November, caused the floods over recent days which has closed many roads around the county and left hundreds of acres of land under water.
According to amateur meteorologist Brendan Geraghty from Abbeyknockmoy, last weekend’s rainfall reached an all-time high.
“The root cause of the problem is that the land got saturated during last month when we had 8.1 inches of rain compared to only 2.1 inches in November 2014. “This is over three times the regular rainfall for November and of course it was compounded further by the heavy rainfall at the weekend,” says Brendan.
