New schools for Tuam and Athenry

NEW schools have got the green light to go to planning for Tuam and Athenry this week, with building projects and site acquisitions at Tuam’s Archbishop McHale College and Athenry’s Coláiste an Cláirin, formerly Gairmscoil Mhuire, finally getting the green light.

Meanwhile Tuam auctioneer Martin Tyrrell has confirmed that he has sold the former Teagasc site in Athenry for €400,000 and 18 of the 20 acres have been purchased by Galway Co Council for the Department of Education. It is understood that this is for the new Colaiste an Cláirin.
