Coats are centre stage this season
I’M a firm believer that a good coat is the perfect cover up. A coat isn’t just about being warm in winter or updating your wardrobe. The perfect coat can be worn, look great and doesn’t give a hint of what calamities lie underneath.
I even know of a lady who had to attend a funeral with no time to change, but by throwing on her trusted and well-cut coat with a patterned scarf, looked perfectly groomed and no one was the wiser as to the spaghetti stains that lurked beneath.
So I think a new coat is never a waste and as long as it isn’t too cumbersome in its design, it will get plenty of wear, if not this year, then the next or the next – good coats don’t date as quickly as other wardrobe items and if looked after, they will last for a decade.
This idea of timeless appeal is a theme that runs throughout the Bellenisa label which is ideally suited for stylish ladies over 55.
It offers a good choice of colours and patterns without being overly concerned about catwalk trends. However, the looks are never dated or fuddy-duddy but can be relied on to be flattering and well wearing.
This season has revived the less tailored trend of the car coat. These are really handy to have and can be worn right up until June as they aren’t too heavy — so perfect for layering.
Car coats can be teamed with trousers, jeans or dresses and come in patterns, bold colours or softer pastels.
Bellenisa is designed in Ireland and made in Europe and with sizes ranging from 10-20, it has become very popular in just three years.
The latest offerings are extremely comfortable to wear and offer a selection of separates and more co-ordinated looks. Their poppy print dresses will look great with chunky heeled boots while there are plenty of coats to tempt you – no matter how many are already hanging in the closet.
