Corofins sharon will sleep out to try and help the homeless

A COROFIN woman is set to take her sleeping bag outdoors this Saturday night to raise funds for the Galway Simon Community.
Sharon Fitzmaurice will undertake the 12 hour sponsored sleep out in her back garden, on the same day as thousands of people are expected to take part in similar events around the country as part of World Homeless Day.
A volunteer with the charity for the past number of years, this will be Sharon’s second such endeavour, having raised €300 in a similar event last year.
“The housing crisis has got so bad in the past few years I felt I had to do something so having chatted to Bill Griffin, CEO of Galway Simon, we’ve decided the safest option is for me to sleep out in the back garden,” she said.
