Make yor look your own

NEW make-up doesn’t always mean a new look. Trends can be experimented with but unless you’re a complete novice, you pretty know what does and doesn’t suit you when it comes to make-up.
But the fun part of make-up is that there is always something new to try that can be incorporated into your basic looks – whether it’s a new shade of lippy or a different way of using shadow or pencils.
This coming season Clarins is letting you be as creative as you like and offers two limited edition eye colour palettes, one for day and one for night. This week we’ll focus on the daytime look which can be pretty basic and nude or worn with a little more definition.
While not always a fan of palettes, as you tend to use a few shades and ignore the rest, I think Clarins do very adaptable ones in that you can pretty much mix and match all of the selection of shades.
The daytime palette has a harmony of eyeshadows that naturally emphasise the eyes — beige, fresh pink and shimmering taupe set off with a matte taupe and a warm brown, which can be blended and layered using the double-ended applicator for a more sophisticated look.
Team these with your choice of shade in the eyebrow pencil to ensure your eyes are well defined and have a wide awake look. The pencil shapes brows to perfection and its new longwear formula comes in three natural shades. For those of you who can’t wear eye-shadow with eyeliner, try the beautifully subtle true violet for a great daytime look. Of course don’t forget to top it all off with a few coats of mascara.
Don’t be afraid to add a good colour punch to your daytime lips. This works well when your eyes are quite neutral and can really lift your daytime look. There’s a lovely orange-red shade in Rouge Eclat to try out.
For those who wear make-up for most of the day, it can be hard to keep it in place without foundation fading or eye-shadow creasing and disappearing. Before application, place a dab of Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base (€25) which will improve eyeshadow hold and refresh the eyes.
Before applying your foundation, gently apply Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch (€28) around line-prone areas to help smooth and fill-in wrinkles, fine lines and enlarged pores.
As always, don’t be afraid to ask for plenty of advice from the experts at your Clarins Counter.
