Ready to start bed manufacturing in Tuam.

Community coop to bring bed manufacturing back to tuam

A NEW community co-operative is pledging to provide sustainable employment in the Tuam region as it begins a fundraising initiative to finance the social enterprise initiative.
Tuam Community Co-Operative has ambitious plans to bring bed manufacturing back to the town, and is seeking State funding to support an initial five year business plan.
Former Home Lee Bedding director Barry Buckley is one of the founding members of the co-op. He believes the not-for-profit venture has huge potential to offer employment to marginalised people in the town whose current job prospects are limited.
“A lot of people are being trained in various schemes in the town and learning skills that once they complete their courses, they have no jobs to go to,” he said.
