Dunmore prevail in local derby

THE LOCAL derby meeeting of Dunmore MacHales and Willaimstown was billed as one of the ties of the weekend in the Intermediate Football Championship and for long spells of the first half, Gerry Fitzmaurice’s side held the upper hand.
Leading 0-4 to 0-1 after 12 minutes, Williamstown were in a solid position and moving well. Garry Kelly, their match-winner against Ballinasloe, had two points on the board, one from a free, while Kieran Flatley landed a great score and a Thomas Comer delivery from distance skipped off the Tuam Stadium turf and over the crossbar.
Dunmore grew into the match after being on the back foot for most of the opening quarter. Matthew Redington kicked his second free and Jamie Coen pointed but Williamstown were keeping their noses in front.
