The life and times of mountbellew sports fanatic gerry rushe

GERRY Rushe’s lifelong love of sport and adventure has taken him from Mountbellew GAA pitch to Aintree for the Grand National and to Cheltenham for the Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup; from Croke Park to Ireland vs Australia in the Compromise Rules series Down Under; from Lansdowne Road to Cardiff, Murrayfield, Paris and Twickenham; and from Shiven Rovers soccer pitch in Killyan, Newbridge to the 1988 European Championships and every World Cup since Italia ’90.
In the wide world of sport, the legendary Gerry Rushe and his two best friends, “the Vicar” and “Trapper John”, saw nearly everything that was worth seeing. And all they saw, they remember most but not all of it!
