Motorway build leads to an extra 220 local jobs already

OVER 220 people from this area have so far been employed directly to work on the M17-M18 Tuam-Gort motorway and Tuam Bypass.
The Direct Route consortium say that this represents a high percentage of the overall total employed on the scheme to date.
Declan Carney, spokesperson for Direct Route, says that apart from all those directly employed there are also over 130 local companies that, “have been, or are currently, directly involved in the project through the supply of materials, sand, plant and machinery, sub-contracting and the like”.
