Galway minors finish league with draw in leitrim

HONOURS even in Carrick-on Shannon last Friday evening and, in the end, the fairest result as Galway and Leitrim concluded their Connacht Minor League campaigns in a low-key clash.
Twelve months ago, the counties met in the compeition’s final round with the title on the line, a day Leitrim won their first Connacht Minor League crown since 1991. This time around, there was nothing tangible at stake as both were guaranteed a mid-table finish regardless of the outcome.
The serious business was decided in Enniscone 24 hours later in a winner-takes-all clash between Sligo and Mayo, with the Yeats County prevailing, 0-11 to 0-10, to claim their first title in 31 years.
