Goal rush secures galways survival against kildare

ON a day when every team in their division had something to play for, Galway avoided relegation but failed to gain promotion to the top tier at a sunny Tuam Stadium on Sunday.
Now they have to be content with cementing their place in Division 2 of the Allianz Football League for another season, while Down, whom they should have beaten, and Roscommon, whom they did overcome, go up.
It has been a topsy-turvy campaign for Kevin Walsh’s side, highlighted by some exhilarating football at times but also containing some pretty poor play on occasion which cost them dearly as far as gaining admittance to the premier grade is concerned.
