Woman had to get bus home in nightie after hospital visit

A TUAM woman was left to travel home by bus in her nightdress from Galway’s Emergency Department after she was seen and told to find her own way home.
The distraught woman had been taken to University Hospital Galway by ambulance on Friday night with severe pain. She said she wasn’t seen by a doctor until Saturday morning.
He gave her a prescription for pain killers as he wasn’t qualified to give her an injection.
She has relayed her ordeal to local Independent Councillor Sean Canney who has contacted hospital management on the issue.
Both of Galway’s Emergency Departments in the city and in Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe are under severe pressure this week with large number of patients waiting on trolleys.
