Headford bus shelter reinvented as public pavilion for local musicians

A €10,000 bus shelter created for Headford town centre will remain in a nearby sports ground as council officials are set to propose it be used as a performance venue for local artists instead.
The structure was made by members of the town’s Men’s Shed last year in conjunction with artist Gareth Kennedy, who was commissioned by Galway County Council to create a functional work of art for the town last year.
It was due to be installed on the main street in the town, to provide shelter for those waiting for and alighting from buses.
However, problems with planning permission led to its relocation to the Moyne Villa Park community walkway where it looks likely to remain.
