Pauls bone marrow match might be found during christmas donation clinics

A BONE marrow match might be found in Tuam next week for cancer patient Paul Giblin or one of the many other patients who are hoping for a bone marrow transplant early in the New Year.
People are being encouraged to be tested for their suitability for bone marrow donation while giving a unit of blood in donor clinics in Tuam and elsewhere over the Christmas period.
The case of Galway’s Paul Giblin, whose mother is Helen Gilmore from Killooney in Dunmore, has received huge media coverage over the past few weeks.
Paul recently got married and is undergoing intensive chemotherapy. His best chances of survival from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a bone marrow transplant in January but so far a suitable match hasn’t been found. There are many other patients around the country who are equally hoping for a match and that match just might be found through a simple blood test at the blood donation clinics being held in Tuam next week.
