Confusion over water emergency call outs in county areas

THERE is confusion among households in the county about who to contact with water problems at weekends and after office hours.
Galway County Council is one of five local authorities in the country which doesn’t have an on-call service for water emergencies but the local authority told The Tuam Herald that despite reports, it does operate an out-of-hours service.
Council officials were told this week that the county looks “silly” compared to the city where a call-out service operates.
Councillors in the Tuam area say it’s a huge concern heading into what is usually the worst time of the year for water problems, especially if the Big Freeze of four years ago returns or water is disrupted due to development works.
