Glinsk td bids farewell to council

THE Glinsk man who set the record for serving the shortest term on Galway Co Council, Deputy and former councillor Michael Fitzmaurice, returned in triumph on Monday to bid farewell to his former colleagues and introduce his replacement Cllr Des Joyce who was co-opted on to the body at their November meeting.
Deputy Fitzmaurice was elected for the first time a councillor for the Tuam Municipal Area at May’s local elections and followed this by being elected to the Dail in the Roscommon-South Leitrim constituency to fill the seat left vacant by his friend and ally Luke Ming Flanagan on his election to the European Parliament, also in May.
The members of the Tuam Municipal Area led the tributes to their former colleague Deputy Fitzmaurice and in welcoming his replacement Cllr Joyce who would now be working with them
