Williamstowns boil water notice upgraded as crypto found in supply

CRYPTOSPORIDIUM has been found in the water supply in Williamstown, three days after a precautionary boil water notice was issued for the town.
The boil water notice, which took effect last Thursday, was originally due to increased turbidity rates in the local supply that was caused by increased rainfall in the area.
However, the discoloured water has been found to contain the cryptosporidium parasite that is known to cause stomach upset, fever and diarrhoea, if consumed.
