The county sfc is again a lap of honour for mighty corofin
ANOTHER day for Corofin football followers to remember with pride.
A 24-point victory in a County Senior Championship semi-final — that, in itself, is a magnificent achievement, and all credit to the winning team for their brilliant second-half display, from leading at the interval by 0-6 to 0-1.
It keeps the reigning champions on course for a 13th County title in 24 years and their 16th in all, and it looks a foregone conclusion, a mere formality.
In stark contrast, Sunday was a dark, dreadful day for Milltown GAA Club, probably the worst ever in their proud history. They were installed second favourites to win the Frank Fox Cup this year and they had defeated the 2012 champions Salthill-Knocknacarra last time out, but here they were held to a paltry two points in over an hour’s play; they conceded 18 scores; two of their players were sent off on straight red cards and two others were shown yellow cards — all four cards were produced after flashpoint incidents in the Milltown defence, in the second half.
