Local poster campaign aims to get people talking about their problems

A LOCAL poster campaign aimed at reducing the stigma of suicide and mental health problems will be launched this weekend in Tuam.
The It’s Time to Talk campaign features varying posters with photos of familiar faces from around Tuam and surrounding communities, all with positive messages of encouragement for getting people to talk about their problems.
The initiative was spurred from an idea of Derek Cassidy of Tuam Voluntary Force who had noticed interviews during Mental Health Week with national celebrities who had suffered depression and offered their own piece of advice.
