Irish tourism bosses unfair to East Galway

FAILTE Ireland this week came in for a barrage of stinging criticism for their 'abandonment of East and South Galway' and almost exclusive focus on the city and Connemara.

One East Galway member of Galway County Council said Failte Ireland's slogan of 'You haven't seen the half of it' was particularly apt in relation to rural Galway, as Failte Ireland certainly hadn't seen the other half of the county.

The criticism was prompted by the announcement that €1.8 million had been allocated to establish 19 'Discover Points' -- viewing sites at scenic locations throughout Connemara.
