Mary Coughlan back in Galway in concert

MARY Coughlan is to play a one-off concert in her native city of Galway at the Druid Mick Lally Theatre on Tuesday July 29 which will also be recorded for a new hour long TV documentary based on Mary’s best selling autobiography, Bloody Mary.
Mary will be backed for the Galway gig by an all-star band that includes the Dutch guitarist Erik Visser who produced Mary Coughlan’s debut album Tired and Emotional.
The Galway homecoming concert on 29 July will be the first time that Mary Coughlan has played with the Dutch guitarist Erik Visser since 1984.
“I met Erik Visser in Galway in the late 1970s when his Dutch band Flairck, who were selling out concert halls all over Europe at the time, played a free open air concert in Eyre Square,” says Mary.
Mary Coughlan will play all her trademark songs at the Galway concert including Double Cross, Ancient Rain by Jimmy McCarthy, The Magdalen Laundry and Delaney’s Gone Back on the Wine by Galway writer Johnny Mulhern, and her recent cover of the Joy Division song Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Tickets for the concert are on sale from the Town Hall Theatre Box Office priced €20 on 091 569777 or online from tht.ie
