The second count, the distribution of Tim Broderick's surplus has lead to the election of Fianna Fail's Michael Connolly.
Cllr Connolly from Moylough took the decision to change electoral areas this time round from Tuam to Ballinasloe and it obviously hasn't impacted his support.
There are now three of the six seats filled in this district with Fianna Fail's Donal Burke set to take the fourth. It's an anxious time for the Fine Gael candidates and it will be a very tight race for the second FG seat but pundits believe that Michael Finnerty and Aidan Donohue will succeed in the end.
