Tuam road row hits trade and threatens jobs, Council told

TUAM’S ongoing Palace Road impasse could be resolved within a week if only members of Galway Co Council would back down on their decision to extinguish the right of way at the centre of the controversy.

This was stated at the final meeting of the current Galway Co Council by Cllr Shaun Cunniffe, one of the leaders of the group who took a High Court challenge against the development at the SuperValu complex in the centre of the town.

Yet again the debate became fractious and confrontational, with one member stating that Tuam’s business community was feeling the impact of the car park closure, and that jobs were being lost.
