Tuam's Brendan Murray is in Louis Walsh's new boy band.

Next boy band sensations rehearse with local singing mate in Tuam

AT a time when boy band One Direction are making millions and after Boyzone and Westlife did likewise, all his pals in Tuam and Dunmore are hoping that 17-year-old Brendan Murray will have similar success as a member of Louis Walsh’s new boy band Hometown.

Brendan, who played Minor and under-16 football with Tuam Stars, is leaving aside his shooting boots for singing and guitar playing in the new boy band that are lined up to appear on the Late Late Show next month. Louis Walsh says that three record companies are negotiating with the band to sign them up and he is very excited about their prospects, as is the Tuam teenager.

'I am really excited about it all. It has been a great experience so far and I can’t wait for everyone to hear what we have been recording,' Brendan told The Tuam Herald this week.

'I am grateful for all the nice comments and all the support from people around Tuam. I am proud to be from Tuam and I hope that someday Hometown can come and do a concert in my hometown of Tuam,' he added.

Last week some of the other five members of Hometown spent time with Brendan in Tuam rehearsing songs that they may include in their live programme.

'We just get together on different days to perfect the singing of our songs and harmonies.

'We have been getting to know each other better and we have bonded very well over the past few weeks and months and everything is going well for us as a group,' he added.
