Armstrong strikes late as Salthill overtake Caltra

By Alan Dooley

SALTHILL-KNOCKNACARRA claimed a spot in the last eight of the Galway Senior Football Championship when they kicked three points in stoppage time on Sunday afternoon to claim victory over a bitterly disappointed Caltra side, who looked in control when Michael Meehan kicked his seventh point on 42 minutes, but this would ultimately prove to be their final score.
Caltra led by 0-10 to 1-4 at that stage, before Salthill-Knocknacarra slowly but surely reeled them in in the closing ten minutes eventually taking the lead in the lengthy additional time after Meehan had required an extensive period of treatment in the closing stages which curtailed his influence when he was most needed.
