New life for old track?

A BREAKTHROUGH has been made in progressing plans for a Greenway in Tuam following a decision to seek council funding to conduct a feasibility study into the amenity.
Despite heated exchanges among members of Tuam Municipal District on Monday afternoon, a motion to seek seed funding for the project, along with capital funding from the Department of Transport, was voted through.
Cathaoirleach Cllr Donagh Killilea had the casting vote when the result was split four in favour and four against the proposal by Cllr Shaun Cunniffe. The motion also secured MDC support for the complementary use of the disused railway line, to allow a greenway to be developed between Ballyglunin and Milltown, via Tuam alongside any future reintroduction of rail services.
