Family's relief as Shane Grogan finally arrives back in Tuam

SHANE Grogan is finally on his way back to Tuam, 20 months after a horrific assault left him with a severe brain injury.

The young Tuam man is returning to the town to a special facility within Aras Mhuire today (Wednesday), where he will undergo rehabilitation for the injuries he received in an attack in the town in August 2012.

Over €150,000 has been raised by the Care for Shane trust that was set up last August to support the Grogan family in their goal of bringing Shane back to the family home on Shop Street, with the move to Aras Mhuire a stepping stone to achieving that aim.

Speaking to The Tuam Herald on Tuesday, his father Joe said the family were relieved and delighted to have Shane back in Tuam and said the move was a small step along the road of recovery for the 24-year-old.
