Mayo coming ‘full steam ahead’

IN a media briefing earlier this week, Galway Senior football manager Padraic Joyce discussed a number of topics, including the introduction of former All-Ireland winning manager Jim McGuinness to his set-up, the return of veteran Corofin attacker Gary Sice to the squad, the need to carry a bigger panel due to the challenges of Covid-19 and this Sunday’s crunch NFL meeting with neighbours Mayo.
 
The last time we met [Mayo], they had a lot of new players tried, they’re probably building for the future, no more than ourselves. The only thing is, they’d have got a lot of the older guys that would have had played a lot of Championship football over the years who would have got a chance to recover the bodies and get rid of all the niggles and knocks they had. So look it, I’m under no illusions, they’ll come to Tuam on Sunday, full steam ahead. They have a lot to play for, as we have.
