Jarlath’s fall at first hurdle

A subpar second half showing proved the undoing of St Jarlath's College, Tuam as they bowed out of the Connacht Post Primary Senior A Football Championship to Rice College, Westport for the second time in three years.
Armed with a 1-4 to 0-5 interval advantage on the back of a 28th minute goal from David Prendergast, the Tuam nursery appeared well set to drive on. But just two further points were added after the change of ends as a resurgent Westport side constructed a winning lead with a run of 1-4 without answer during a totally dominant third quarter.
