AS Saturday’s All-Ireland Junior Football Championship semi-final between Galway and Meath drew to a close, those in attendance at Dr Hyde Park were frantically searching for calculators, abacuses or any other counting devices that were available to determine who was leading, given the high-scoring nature of the contest.
It was a truly epic encounter and only the slenderest of margins after extra-time could separate two sublime attacking outfits that left absolutely everything on the field.
Galway, who in the 21st minute were already 11 points down, were perhaps looking dead and buried in their pursuit for back-to-back All-Ireland junior finals.
