Historic win for St Jarlath's

THE first leg of a historic Connacht Cup double for St Jarlath's, Tuam began with a heroic defensive effort holding out St Raphael's, Loughrea at the end of a gruelling Top Oil Connacht Schools Senior Emerging Schools final.
In 2015, Jarlath's won the Junior Emerging Cup at provincial level but events of last Wednesday afternoon superseded that achievement as 52 players left the home of Connacht Rugby with provincial medals in their back pockets.
Their Senior Emerging Cup success, the third tier in Connacht schools competition, was built on inspired defence, as Jarlath's players, to a man, repelled the Loughrea advances, a testament to their courage and fitness, as well as the work of their coaches Kenneth Mulryan, John Ward and Jimmy Maughan, who masterminded both victories.
