Galway minors show their mettle

GALWAY will contest their second All-Ireland Minor Football Championship final in three seasons after a thrilling third quarter fightback saw them overhaul Meath in Saturday afternoon's curtain-raiser at GAA headquarters.
Eoghan Tinney, Oisín McCormack and Tony Gill rattled the net between the 39th and 46th minute and that three-goal salvo proved the winning and losing of the game.
Galway's reward is a September 2 final with Kerry, after the Kingdom stretched their unbeaten streak to 29 matches at the grade against Monaghan on Sunday.
In truth, the Connacht champions should have won by much, much more. Despite clocking up 3-13, an impressive 3-11 of it coming from open play, Donal Ó Fátharta's team could have been further clear by the finish, even if it would have been rough justice on the efforts of a Meath team that fell away badly after the break.
