Roisin Leonard scores for Galway.

Galway ladies reach semis

REGARDLESS of what transpires in the rest of 2018, Galway’s senior ladies footballers have proven they are a coming force and again sent out a statement of intent on Sunday as they dismissed neighbours Mayo to book their first All-Ireland semi-final appearance since 2014.
Two Róisín Leonard goals and strikes from Caitriona Cormican, Ailbhe Davoren and Leanne Coen were the headline scores as Stephen Glennon’s team eased past their understrength rivals.
The Tribeswomen won’t be resting on their laurels yet as another stiff examination awaits. For the third time this season, they’ll meet reigning champions Dublin on August 25 (throw-in: 4.30pm) with a Croke Park final the prize for the winners.
Sunday's victory didn't come without a price, however, as a serious knee injury to Davoren ended her involvement on the three-quarter mark.
