Dunmore's Bridge Street should be widened soon.

Dunmore demolition for traffic flow

DECADES of traffic chaos in Dunmore could come to end if a plan to demolish derelict buildings along Bridge Street gets the go- ahead.
The project, being developed by Galway County Council, has earmarked the widening of Bridge Street, which is as narrow as 3.4m in places, to accommodate traffic which currently is forced to a standstill if larger vehicles approach. A pedestrian footbridge will also be installed over the Sinking River to enhance public safety, as part of the proposal.
The scheme was launched earlier this year with a first phase of public consultation where the views of the community were sought. A second phase of public consultation is now underway with the public invited to view the proposed plan online, with a dedicated website set up for the project.
