Cycling priest's tour now a charity calendar

A HEADFORD priest is hoping his summer tour of the parish can help generate funds for a roof restoration project on St Mary’s Church in the town.
Fr Ray Flaherty PP gained national media attention last May when he decided to tour the parish on his bicycle, blessing homes during the first lockdown that forced churches to close in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Hundreds of homes from Claran to Cloughanover, and Inchequin to Headford town, were visited, with families erecting small altars and shrines to acknowledge Fr Ray’s efforts that was captured on camera by parish secretary Una Conway.
Fr Ray and Una have now put all the photos together to create a Headford and Claran Parish Calendar 2021 that went on sale in recent days.
